To be honest with all of you reading this review, I'm a huge fan of Shana Vanterpool. I think she's one of the best indie writers out there today just waiting to be discovered by a mass audience. Now that I got that out of the way, I'm going to tell you why this book ranks as my favorite book of the year.

This story is about Gavin and Jasmeen, two young lovers who fell hard as kids and flamed out as young adults. This is a unique story of how they found their way back to each other. Its not your typical second chance story. It will remind you of one large therapy session, where you discover things along with the main characters.

They both are scarred from childhood; Gavin being in a foster home and Jasmeen having neglectful parents. They found solace among each other, holding on tight even when Gavin was drafted into the NHL. But their marriage faltered, and ultimately failed. While the author beautifully gives us insight into their journey as kids, this is really the story of why they pushed each other away. After a deadly helicopter accident that left Gavin the only survivor with terrible injuries, he requests Jasmeen to help.

Gavin was a uniquely charismatic character that you will love, not because he's sympathetic, but because he can analyze Hus life with pure clarity. He knows his mistakes, and knows what he wants. Jasmeen is so torn and to me, a much more complicated character. This author writes real women with heartbreaking feelings. Jasmeen is an example of a woman who gives up her dreams for others. Her transformation is emotional and satisfying.

This story plays with concepts of fate and circumstance, and you believe it when you read it here. Its beautiful prose; elegant and insightful. You get to known these complex characters in and out, all sides. Its the most intriguing book of the year that never makes you sad. It just makes you hopeful.

I liked Crash Into Us. I liked Gavin and Jasmeen. I liked the smooth flow of the story. I liked the change of narrator from her to him in different chapters. I liked the flashbacks to their childhood friendship. What I didn't like and why I'm only giving 3 stars is I felt Jasmeen was always denying her true feelings for Gavin. Too much angst, in my opinion. I didn't see much romance in this story. a lot of sex; maybe love, but no real romance. Oh yeah, when he kept her wedding ring; and when he got down on one knee on the ice to ask her to remarry him. That was romantic. But what I really didn't get was him choking her during sex. To me, that is a form of abuse of some kind. And I thought it was somewhat out of character for Gavin. He might not be a gentle man, but I didn't like that part of the story. If my husband (or boyfriend) started choking me to get off during sex...well I'd be out of there so fast his head would spin. And if other books by Shana Vanterpool are like this one...I MIGHT read them.
This is the first time I've read a book by this author. Great second chance romance. Jas and Gavin's love was epic.
First time read for me by the author and it won't be the last. This book flowed beautifully and I really really enjoyed it great book.

When you are given a second chance, you take it. You don't let it pass you by. I fell in love with Gavin. My heart cried when life is put into new perspective. Every part of this book was amazing. I really like Jasmeen. I love that the characters were friends during youth. I got all the feels while reading this book.
This story is one of the best I've read by this author. It's raw and emotional. The book pulls you in with real characters, a plot line that flows and ebbs, and emotional ties that hold you prisoner. You need to pick up this 5 star read today!
OMG! I ate this story up. I already knew from the blurb that Crash Into Us would be right up my alley and it was. Shana Vanterpool delivers a powerful, emotional and romantic story about love and getting a second chance.

Jasmeen and Gavin have known each other since they were ten and divorces at twenty two. Those twelve years are filled with a lot of firsts for both of them but most of all a love that’s indestructible. A love that’s all consuming.

Now at twenty six they’ve been without contact for four years since their painful breakup and divorce. A helicopter crash changes all that when Gavin is the only survivor and only want Jasmeen by his side for his recovery.
Their road back to one another was intense and filled with so many emotions. Just that scene in the hospital when Jasmeen and Gavin see each other for the first time in four years. My heart ached and broke. My eyes teared up. So powerful.
I loved the flashbacks to their youth cause that really showed why they’re so addicted to one another. Why they’re so tethered. Also my connection to them only intensified. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. Crazy as hell hot!
Their love is incredible. Their friendship is beautiful. Gavin was going through so much pain and suffering from nightmares but throughout it all Jasmeen was a rock. His rock. It was so difficult to read at times because the author captured it perfection. Gavin’s guilt of being the only survivor and him choosing between Jasmeen or hockey.

Crash Into Us is about second chances. Jasmeen and Gavin are without a doubt soulmates. With that comes hurt, disappointment but most importantly love. Their love can’t be described. It has to be experienced.

This is only my second book that I’ve read from Shana Vanterpool. The first being Mad Love which brought my attention to the author. Now I can honestly say that I’m going full stalker mode. Her writing is flawless and her storytelling resonates with me. Her prose evoke so much emotion within me. Vanterpool has cemented herself as on author I need in my life.
I’m so happy Crash Into Us crashed into my life. Definitely going on my favorite list this year.
